There’s so much good stuff coming it’s hard to know where to start. Band on the Wall are continuing their run of impressive bookings across the musical spectrum. Soul fans don’t miss the incredible vocalist ESKA on the 28th May, jazz fans need to check Myele Manazana on the 18th April (our friends Better Days are warming up on the decks so get their early), and for something unmissable and beyond categorisation check out Low Leaf on April 25th.

MYELE MANAZANA ft Rachel Fraser: On the Move

Over in West Yorkshire the big event is probably the extravaganza at Leeds Town Hall on 28th May arranged by the increasingly brilliant SuperFriendz with a jaw dropping line up including Badbadnotgood, Nao, Floating Point and Submotion Orchestra.

Speech Debelle has been relatively quiet since her Mercury Prize win apart from a couple of strong singles (check out No War No Peace below) Her new album is sublime and I for one can’t wait to hear that live at the HiFi on the 26th May.

SPEECH DEBELLE: No War No Peace

From the same promoters, local stalwarts Bam Bam Bam, you’ve still got time to be at Jehst at the same venue on the 12th May. Great to see him on stage with Loyle Carner recently and all fans of UK hip hop should be marking that date on the calendar.

And before any of that, you need to be at the Belgrave on the 21st April for Renegade Brass Band, the fantastic Sheffield brass band bringing a fusion of funk, hip hop and soul that is guaranteed to keep you on the dance floor. The whole line up is a bargain, to be honest and of the kind of quality guaranteed from promoters Soul Rebels, known for bringing big acts and nurturing young talent. Dj Andy H (co-founder of First Word Records and true turntablist) will be there spinning breaks guaranteed to bring the b-boys and girls to the floor, and the supporting band Hot Diamond Aces will keep that pressure high with afrobeat and funk grooves. Sound good? Check out our facebook and Instagram for details of how to win free tickets to this. Or alternatively, it’s a bargain at just £9 from Jumbo
