In this series, two contenders from the musical scene in Leeds go head to head, or vinyl to vinyl, to pitch the old against the new and ask you to decide who wins.
In anticipation of their DJ support slot for the mighty George Clinton in Leeds on May 11th we focus on selections from DJ Lubi and Tony Green.
In just a few weeks George Clinton will be in Leeds with his 17 strong band. This is a gig not to be missed, as despite being in his 7th decade no-one, but no-one, knows how to funk it up like Clinton. It’s truly electrifying. As the driving force behind Parliament and Funkadelic, it isn’t hyperbole to say that George Clinton is one of the most influential musicians of all time and he is definitely one of the most sampled. In the run up to the gig SAMPLE WARS will ask DJ Lubi to pick a Clinton original and challenge Tony to find a track that samples it. Then you, dear reader, can pick your winner.
